‘Sing’ Maarten
Mars Mini’s
2023
Sint Maarten is a centuries-old tradition, celebrated today by kids going door-to-door singing songs in exchange for candy. They pull out all the stops to convince whoever answers the door to hand out treats. And with Mars Minis, that's exactly the spirit we lean into. That's what these 15-second videos capture, both literally and figuratively, in two scenarios: the person who stays at home to hand out the candy, and the overexcited parent who tags along (and knows the songs better than the kids do.
We're casting two influencers, at least one of whom is a parent in real life, adding relatability. The dynamic between performer and door-answerer both sing the same custom lyric, but both in their own performance genre. Jamai as a musical star, and Birgit as a pop diva.
The lyrics:
Sinte Maarten is de dag
Dat ik mag zingen, dat ik mag dansen
Sinte Maarten is de dag
Dat ik Mars MINI’s eten mag!

Jamai
The one staying home: Someone's relaxing at home while music plays faintly in the background. The doorbell rings, they jump: they're here! As the song kicks in, they scramble to find the MINI’s, singing along while searching. Relief, found them. They rush to the door, out of breath, just in time to hand out the MINI’s to the performer outside.
Birgit
The performer: An enthusiastic parent walks up to the door with their kid, lantern in hand, ready to sing. The moment the door opens, reality shifts, they're suddenly performing a full pop star show: glitter, backup dancers, spotlight, microphone in hand. The song ends, and we snap back to reality, out of breath from the performance. The person at the door hands over a bowl of Mars MINI’s, and they grab a handful, satisfied.
